Grinding uses a machine to chew the stump into mulch below ground level, which is faster, cheaper, and easier on your yard. Full extraction pulls the entire root ball out, which leaves a large hole and disturbs more of the lawn. Most homeowners choose grinding.
We grind below grade, usually several inches under the surface, deeper if you plan to replant or lay sod. Tell us your plans for the spot and we will grind to match.
Grinding produces a pile of mulch. We can backfill the hole with it, leave it for you to use in beds, or haul it away. Just let us know your preference.
Rental grinders exist, but they are heavy, throw debris, and can hit hidden rocks or utilities. For anything larger than a small stump, it is safer and usually cheaper in the end to have it done in one visit.
